I research police stories within the nascent field of cultural criminology which analyses the cultural imaginations of crime and justice through various theoretical frameworks. My research focuses primarily on the representation of police in post-1980s American comic books, video games, and film.

Biography
İbrahim Mertcan Alçınkaya is a postgraduate student at the University of Warsaw. He is writing his dissertation on the glorification and justification of police violence in the post-1980s American comic books. He is the author of the article "Deanthropocene: dehumanisation of police violence in DMZ" published recently in Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics. His research interests include cultural representations of police in American comics, video games, and film. Alçınkaya teaches courses on American superhero comics and the history of American police at the American Studies Center, University of Warsaw.
