In High Society, Dave Sim uses Moon Roach as part of his strategy of critiquing the idea of the superhero as social justice warrior. Rather than an independent agent seeking "unorthodox economic revenge" for the oppressed masses, Moon Roach is co-opted by the system, becoming instead part of the machinery of oppression.

Biography
Dominick Grace is Professor of English at Brescia University College. His primary area of research interest is Canadian popular culture, especially comics and graphic novels. He is the author of The Science Fiction of Phyllis Gotlieb: A Critical Reading, and he co-edited The Canadian Alternative: Cartoonists, Comics, and Graphic Novels with Eric Hoffman, as well as five comics-related volumes in the University Press of Mississippi’s Conversations series. In addition to numerous other publications, he has two forthcoming collections on the TV show Supernatural, co-edited with Lisa Macklem.
